Tusk said Poland’s defence industry could play a role in the overhaul of the European Union’s largest producer of coking coal, which is used to make steel.
“We will do everything to transform JSW and save this company—or at least a significant part of it,” Tusk told reporters.
“This plan is detailed and includes co-financing for voluntary redundancies,” he said.
“I do not rule out that the Polish Armaments Group, or the broader defence industry, could play a positive role," he added.
JSW has been working on a restructuring plan to cope with rising energy costs, falling coal prices and competition from cheap steel imports, according to media reports.
