Deputy Foreign Minister Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski told private broadcaster Radio Zet the case “is open” but Poland is “not able to determine more than we have now” and has “no support from the Israeli side,” adding Israel is blocking cooperation with multiple governments.
He said those involved faced disciplinary, not criminal, consequences.
Poland’s Foreign Ministry commissioned an international panel to review the incident but has refused to publish its findings or disclose the government’s position paper, citing diplomatic secrecy, according to news outlet Onet.
The April 1, 2024 strike hit a World Central Kitchen convoy in Gaza, with Israeli drones firing on three vehicles in succession. Seven aid workers were killed, including Soból of Przemyśl.
The District Prosecutor’s Office in Przemyśl has led the inquiry since April 2024, but progress has stalled due to non-cooperation from Israel and the United States, which have not answered Polish requests for legal assistance or evidence.
