As confirmed by Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office spokesman Piotr Antoni Skiba, the four-hour questioning was “very thorough and conducted in a good atmosphere.”

Kaczyński, who testified in the presence of defence lawyers representing suspect Mateusz Morawiecki, answered all questions from prosecutors, though in some cases said he could not recall certain details. The hearing was not recorded, and the defence did not raise any additional questions.

The investigation concerns a decision by the then PiS-led government during the COVID-19 pandemic to instruct the state postal service to prepare for a fully mail-based presidential election scheduled for 10 May 2020.

The vote was later cancelled amid legal concerns and political criticism, and the election was subsequently held in person.

In February 2025, former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki - a senior Law and Justice figure - was charged with abuse of power and failure to perform official duties in connection with the case.
