Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has warned that Russia's war against Ukraine has forced countries to choose between "guns and butter"—spending more on defence and less on other national priorities.

"There’s always a trade-off between guns and butter. This is what the Russian Federation has imposed on us," Sikorski said in an interview with English-language broadcaster TVP World on Wednesday.

He said Poland's government would spend "whatever it takes" to defend the country, adding that Russia posed an existential threat to both Poland and Europe as a whole.

Sikorski told TVP World that the best way to ensure Russia's defeat is to keep supplying Ukraine with weapons until Moscow's economy can no longer sustain the conflict.
