Tram and bus collide in central Warsaw, dozens injured

A collision involving two trams and a city bus in Warsaw has left 24 people injured, 16 of whom were taken to hospital.

Warsaw police said the accident occurred on Tuesday morning at 7:46 a.m. local time on Aleja Solidarności, heading towards Plac Bankowy.

Initial reports indicated that 15 people were injured at the scene and received immediate medical attention from paramedics.

The stretch of Aleja Solidarności in the direction of Plac Bankowy was completely blocked, with police directing traffic along alternative routes via the W-Z route.

By late morning, authorities confirmed that the disruption had ended and both tram and road traffic had resumed.

In total, 24 people were injured, with 16 taken to hospital for further treatment. Police are continuing to investigate the exact circumstances and cause of the collision.
