The head of Poland’s diplomacy said on X (formerly Twitter) that the decision was made at the request of the National Prosecutor’s Office.

“At the request of the National Prosecutor’s Office, I have cancelled Zbigniew Z.’s diplomatic passport,” he wrote.

The move follows a request last week to the Warsaw-Mokotów District Court to place Ziobro under three months’ pre-trial detention.

The National Prosecutor’s Office has charged him with 26 counts of abuse of office connected to the Justice Fund case.

At the time, Ziobro was reported to be in Budapest. The politician has not clearly stated whether he intends to apply for political asylum in Hungary or return to Poland.

The court hearing on the detention request is scheduled for 22 December, when the Warsaw-Mokotów District Court will decide on the next steps in the case.
