Krzysztof Gawkowski said on Monday afternoon that a cyberattack had been detected at the Public Procurement Office (UZP).
The attackers gained access to the email accounts of staff at the authority and at the National Appeals Chamber (KIO), which oversees procurement disputes.
The politician said the incident had been reported to the agencies responsible for cyber security and that “all necessary measures” had been taken to secure systems and limit the impact of the breach, adding that operational work to identify the perpetrators was still ongoing.
Gawkowski warned that cyberattacks were increasing year on year and becoming more dangerous, urging both public institutions and private companies to place the highest priority on protecting digital access to their systems and to comply with rules set out under Poland’s national cyber security framework.
The minister also pointed to the government’s cyber.gov.pl platform, which he described as a central hub offering practical advice, up-to-date warnings and free protective services to help guard against cyber threats.
