The hotline, available at +48 22 523 88 80, went into service on Sunday at 5 p.m. local time.

Ministry spokesman Maciej Wewiór urged Polish nationals in the region to remain calm and stay in their current locations, away from windows, keeping documents and any necessary medication close at hand.

Wewiór said consular services were in direct contact with Polish citizens and were also liaising with local authorities.

He noted that the United Arab Emirates had agreed to provide shelter and food for all those unable to leave before its airspace was closed.

The spokesman warned against commercial offers of assistance circulating online and urged citizens to rely only on verified sources, including official Polish diplomatic channels.

He also said that responsibility for stranded travellers lay primarily with travel agencies and airlines.

US-Israel attacks on Iran

The crisis follows a US-Israeli military operation against Iran launched on Saturday.

Iran has since struck American bases in Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Bahrain, as well as targets in Israel.

Iranian state media confirmed on Sunday that the country's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed in the initial attack.
