Addressing diplomats in Warsaw on Friday, Minister Radosław Sikorski strongly condemned recent attacks by Iran on countries not directly involved in the conflict, including strikes targeting civilian infrastructure. He also briefed ambassadors on actions taken by Polish embassies and consulates across the region to support people affected by the crisis, including assistance and evacuation efforts for Polish nationals.

The foreign minister noted that the conflict in the Middle East could have significant implications for Europe. He stressed the importance of strengthening European support for Ukraine and increasing pressure on Russia, particularly through tougher sanctions and enhanced efforts to counter Russian hybrid operations.

The meeting with EU diplomats was held at the initiative of Nicos Nicolaou, Ambassador of Cyprus to Poland, in connection with Cyprus’s current presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Meanwhile, Poland continues to organize evacuations for its citizens from the region. Another group of Polish nationals departed from Qatar on Saturday, Sikorski announced. Additional evacuation flights are planned for March 7–8, and two Polish military aircraft are on standby for potential flights to Riyadh.

According to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maciej Wewiór, 3,922 people had safely returned to Poland from the Middle East as of Friday evening.

Earlier, Prime Minister Donald Tusk stressed during a government meeting on the situation in the region that Polish diplomatic missions must remain at the highest level of readiness as the crisis develops.
