The "European Pulse" poll, conducted last month, found that 51 percent of respondents in Spain consider America a threat, while 16 percent see it as a rival. Only 13 percent described the Washington as a partner and 17 percent as a close ally.

In Poland, 13 percent of respondents view the United States as a threat, while 34 percent see it as a partner and 24 percent as a close ally.

The survey also showed that 46 percent of Italians, 42 percent of Belgians, 37 percent of French respondents and 30 percent of Germans consider the United States a threat.

In Spain, 56 percent of respondents said they strongly opposed recent US and Israeli military strikes on Iran.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has been among the most outspoken critics of US President Donald Trump in Europe and a strong opponent of the war with Iran, Politico reported.

The survey was conducted by French pollster Cluster17 between March 13 and 21 on a representative sample of 6,700 adults in Poland, Spain, France, Belgium, Germany and Italy, with at least 1,000 respondents in each country.
