He admitted writing the post but told investigators he had not intended to hurt anyone and had done it "out of stupidity," Mariusz Boroń of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Kraków said. Prosecutors in Kraków are investigating the case. The man is suspected of plotting an attack targeting a group of leading Polish politicians. According to prosecutors, Mikołaj T. posted on August 6 in a public Telegram group focused on firearms in Poland, calling for eliminating more than a dozen people and seeking volunteers to help organise the planned attack. Boroń said the post indicated that its author was dissatisfied with what he described as more than a decade of rule by political groups forming a "duopoly." He did not identify any specific politicians or parties as intended targets. Police from Poland's Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime (CBZC) spotted the post. The suspect, a resident of southeastern town of Tomaszów Lubelski, was arrested there on August 12. A court ordered him held in custody for 30 days at the prosecutors' request. The Internal Security Agency (ABW) is also investigating the case, including the suspect's motives, background and whether he was inspired by other people, Boroń said. Investigators are awaiting a psychiatric evaluation of the man's mental condition. Police searched the suspect's property with the help of a Border Guard dog trained to detect weapons and explosives but found no such items. They seized computer equipment and phones and found marijuana, leading to an additional charge of drug possession. The suspect faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
