The letter, seen by Poland's PAP news agency, was sent on Tuesday to Mieczysław Nowicki, a PKOl deputy head who had called an executive meeting for that date on Piesiewicz's behalf.
It was signed by several of Piesiewicz's deputies and other board members, with national sports federations informed.
"The main goal right now is to get Radosław Piesiewicz formally removed as quickly as possible, and the board has the power to do that," another of Piesiewicz's deputies, Adam Konopka, told PAP.
Under PKOl rules, the body would first need to hand the role to one of Piesiewicz's deputies for the rest of the term, on the grounds that Piesiewicz is unable to carry out his duties.
It could then go further and remove him from the board altogether for breaching the committee's statute or damaging its reputation.
That would require a two-thirds majority, with at least 40 of the 60 board members present.
If that fails, opponents have a fallback: The PKOl's general assembly already passed a resolution in June ordering Piesiewicz to convene a special meeting with a single item on the agenda—his own removal.
He has yet to act on it.
A petition demanding exactly that was signed by 82 of the PKOl's 106 members, comfortably above the threshold needed.
Piesiewicz has so far ignored the petition, saying he is waiting for legal advice on whether the effort to remove him has followed proper procedure.
The Polish Olympic chief was arrested in Warsaw last Thursday and charged with influence peddling and favouring one group of creditors over others, in a case linked to the troubled cryptocurrency exchange Zondacrypto.
A court has since ordered his pre-trial detention for three months.
He denies any wrongdoing.
Zondacrypto had been the PKOl's main sponsor since October last year, but the relationship broke down over unpaid installments. Its neon sign was taken down from the committee's Warsaw headquarters in April.
Piesiewicz has led the PKOl since April 2023; the current board's term runs until spring next year.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has reportedly set out three possible ways of resolving the crisis, according to Polish media.
Poland's sports minister, Jakub Rutnicki, has called on the PKOl board to act swiftly to restore public trust.
