Tusk thanked officers for their “swift and decisive action”.
Earlier in the day, Interior Ministry spokeswoman Karolina Gałecka said police had received information about a possible attack on Tusk and on Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
Police, State Protection Service officers and Internal Security Agency personnel met at the agency’s Anti-Terrorism Centre before midday to discuss the tip.
Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesman for the minister coordinating the special services, said afterwards that such threats were becoming more frequent and that the authorities were treating the case with great seriousness.
Government spokesman Adam Szłapka told broadcaster TVN24 that “this signal was more worrying than previous ones of this kind”.
