Speaking at a joint press conference with the visiting Lithuanian president, Duda voiced hope for “cross-border cooperation based on mutual respect, but above all a great deal of mutual friendliness.”

He also said he was hoping for good cooperation with Nausėda when it came to Poles living in Lithuania. He thanked Polish Lithuanians for supporting Nausėda during that country’s presidential vote.

"I thank them for that," Duda stated.

He also thanked the new Lithuanian president for coming to Poland on his first foreign visit after being sworn in on Friday.

"This is really a great sign for us when it comes to building neighbourly relations," Duda said.

The Polish president told reporters that his talks with the new Lithuanian head of state focused on issues including regional security, military cooperation and NATO.

"The security of Lithuania is extremely important to us," Duda declared.

Lithuania’s Nausėda was also scheduled to meet with Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki while in Warsaw on Tuesday.
