Polish, US presidents to ink major military accord

The presidents of Poland and the United States were on Monday set to sign a declaration on strengthening defence cooperation between their countries.

The agreement has been hailed by Warsaw as an important step towards increasing the US military presence in Poland and ensuring security on NATO’s eastern flank.

“The deal contains some specific locations for the US contingent in Poland, but most importantly, it confirms that a US division-level command unit will be located in this country, which raises Polish-US military partnership to a whole new level,” said Krzysztof Szczerski, chief of staff to the Polish president.
