Fardin Kazemi was delivering raisins to Poland in early December when his almost-30-year-old American truck broke down, the Dziennik Zachodni daily reported on Friday.

Polish truck drivers rallied around to help and launched an online crowd-funding campaign to raise money in order to fund the repairs the truck needed to be able to hit the road.

When the vehicle proved to be broken beyond repair, the Polish crowd-funders decided to buy Kazemi a new truck, the daily reported.

The search for a suitable new vehicle for Kazemi is still on.

"The Polish people have been angels to me," Kazemi told the daily.

"I have travelled all over Europe for 27 years… so far I have not had the chance to get to know Poles better… now it turned out they are wonderful people, and it is difficult for me to believe their help," he added.
