The comment came after Reuters news agency reported on Friday, that US President Donald Trump has ordered the military to withdraw some 9,500 American troops from Germany.
The agency quoted a senior US administration official as saying that the "troops would be sent elsewhere, some to Poland, some to other allied countries, while some would return home."
"There [is] less need for the large contingent in Germany due to overall increased defense spending by the US-led NATO military alliance,” the official was also quoted by Reuters as saying.
Morawiecki told Polish private radio broadcaster RMF FM: "I deeply hope … that some of these troops that are currently stationed in Germany, which are being withdrawn by the US, will indeed be relocated to Poland."
"This move would strengthen Nato’s eastern flank," he added.
On Friday, some 6,000 Polish and American troops launched a series of drills at the Drawsko Pomorskie training site in Poland’s northwest, as part of the "Defender-Europe 20 Plus" drills, which will see around 100 tanks and more than 230 combat vehicles deployed to the site.
According to the defence ministry in Warsaw, the drills aim to strengthen the security of Poland and other countries along the eastern flank of NATO.
