They also debated an outside report by experts on how NATO should adapt for the future, Russia’s military build-up and NATO’s training mission in Afghanistan.
Among the members of the so-called NATO Reflection Group, which drew up the report, was Poland’s Anna Fotyga, an MEP and a former foreign minister.
“The report says that Russia continues to be the main military threat to the Euro-Atlantic area, not only to its eastern flank. Thus, the Reflection Group sees the need to pursue dialogue with Russia, but in a controlled manner,” Fotyga said.
