UPDATE: V4 presidents meet to discuss post-pandemic recovery

The presidents of Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia gathered for a two-day summit in northern Poland on Tuesday to discuss post-pandemic recovery and mark the 30th anniversary of their regional Visegrad Group (V4).

Polish President Andrzej Duda was hosting the event at his vacation residence in Jurata on the Baltic coast.

The Czech Republic's Miloš Zeman, Hungary's János Áder and Slovakia's Zuzana Čaputová joined him for a face-to-face meeting with health protocols in place amid the coronavirus pandemic, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

The talks on Tuesday and Wednesday focused on the region’s economic recovery from the coronavirus crisis and European and transatlantic policies, officials have said.

Other topics included climate and energy challenges, according to Polish presidential aide Krzysztof Szczerski.

The four-nation Visegrad Group is a regional cooperation platform that brings together Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia.
