While in Tbilisi on Wednesday, Andrzej Duda reiterated Poland’s support for Georgia’s aspirations to join the European Union and NATO.
"Our unity and solidarity must stand against any imperial march," Duda told the Georgian people, as quoted by Poland’s PAP news agency.
"I'm here to say loud and clear that there’s enough room in a united Europe and NATO for our friends from Eastern Europe—Georgia as well as Ukraine and Moldova," he added as he attended Georgia's Independence Day celebrations in the country’s capital on Wednesday.
‘Russia is not a normal country’
That same day, during a trip to the administrative boundary line with the Moscow-backed breakaway region of Tskhinvali/South Ossetia, Duda said that "aggressive, imperial Russian policies have taken away people's opportunities for development, deprived them of their normal lives, and led to the destruction of nations.”
“Such actions cannot be tolerated by the international community,” he declared.
“Russia is not a normal country; it is not a country that behaves normally; it is an aggressor state,” Duda added, appealing for “decisive action” by the international community to help Georgia almost 13 years since its five-day war with Russia.
