Top aide Michał Dworczyk said there had been no classified information on the compromised email account.
Polish Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin, meanwhile, said that the incident “appears to be a provocation by Russian security services.”
Dworczyk said a fake statement had appeared on the Facebook account of his wife which claimed that confidential information from his email account had been leaked by a hacker.
Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Przydacz said: “Anyone who knows Russian can see that it [the fake statement] was written by a Russian-speaking person trying to write in Polish.”
“This is a disinformation campaign,” he added.
Late on Tuesday, Dworczyk tweeted that he considers the cyberattack to be “a part of a large-scale disinformation campaign including falsified and manipulated information.”
