Yacov Livne approved as new Israeli ambassador to Poland

The Israeli government has approved the nomination of Yacov Livne as the country’s new ambassador to Poland.

Livne previously served as director of the Euro-Asia Department at the Israeli Foreign Office.

Born in Moscow in 1967, he emigrated to Israel in 1974. After joining the country's foreign ministry in 1992, he held several positions at home and abroad, including diplomatic posts in Russia and Germany.

Livne studied physics, international relations and history. He has a Ph.D. in history and is fluent in English, Russian and German.

The previous Israeli ambassador, Alexander Ben Zvi, left Warsaw in November, after serving in the post for a year.
