Biden and Merkel agreed to disagree on the Russia-Germany gas link when they met at the White House on Thursday, but vowed to stand together against aggression from Moscow and anti-democratic action from Beijing, news agencies reported.

The Nord Stream 2 project is opposed by Washington, while also being heavily criticised by Poland and other Central and Eastern European countries.
