The news was unveiled by Duda’s foreign policy advisor Jakub Kumoch in an interview with the state-run TVP Info news channel on Wednesday.
Preparations are being made for the Polish president to meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron, in a three-way format known as the Weimar Triangle, Kumoch said.
He added that the meeting was expected to take place early next week after Duda returns from Beijing.
A key topic would be the standoff between the West and Russia over Ukraine, Kumoch told TVP Info.
Kumoch also said in the interview that the meeting would take place in Berlin and that “President Duda is very much interested in having constructive talks as part of the Weimar Triangle.”
“We are hugely optimistic and very enthusiastic about this initiative,” Kumoch said.
“We have proposed to meet early next week, just after President Duda’s return from China, when there will be more to say about the results of the president’s diplomatic outreach so far,” he added, as quoted by the PAP news agency.
Duda is flying to Beijing to attend Friday’s opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games.
He is set to use the opportunity to speak about Ukraine with Chinese President Xi Jinping, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, and the head of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, PAP reported, citing a source close to the Polish head of state.
The aim will be to persuade them to help bring Russia and Ukraine to the negotiating table, according to PAP.
Russia's military buildup near Ukraine has in recent weeks raised fears in the West that Moscow may be preparing for a new invasion of the country.
Moscow has denied plans for an assault but says it could take unspecified military action if its security demands are not met, the Reuters news agency has reported.
Russia annexed the Crimea peninsula from Ukraine in 2014 and then fomented a separatist conflict in that country's eastern Donbas region, leading to a wave of EU and US sanctions against Moscow and Russian officials.
