The EU's Michel was on Tuesday meeting online with European leaders to set the stage for the bloc's summit in Brussels later this week, reporters were told.

Ahead of Tuesday’s video conference, the Polish Prime Minister's Office said Poland was "consistently stressing the need to put full and efficient sanctions on all Russian entities enabling Russia to finance the war” in Ukraine.

“Independence from the Kremlin’s energy policy and limiting the imports of oil, coal and gas, which are the pillars of the Russian economy, are the key areas of our action,” the office also said in a statement.

The EU's Brussels summit is scheduled for March 24 and 25 to discuss the war in Ukraine, sanctions against Russia, and the bloc's defence policy and energy security.
