Five people were shot dead on Tuesday evening by a Palestinian gunman in a suburb of Tel Aviv, in the third deadly attack of its kind in a week, the BBC has reported.

The attack happened in Bnei Brak, one of Israel's most populous ultra-Orthodox Jewish areas, according to the British public broadcaster.

"Poland strongly condemns last night’s terrorist attack that claimed innocent lives in Israel," the Polish foreign ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

It added: "Our thoughts are with the families and friends of the victims and the wounded. The violence needs to stop. Poland expresses solidarity with Israel in these difficult days."
