Ukrainian Deputy PM calls on citizens to evacuate from the country’s south

Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk called on the country’s citizens to evacuate from the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions to facilitate Ukrainian forces’ counter-offensive.

Vereshchuk, who also serves as Ukraine’s Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories told the media that the evacuation is crucial for Ukrainian troops to recapture the territory without putting civilians at risk.

She added that Russian military is using civilians, living in the south of the country to block Ukrainian counter-attacks.

“Our artillery needs to operate, because we need to use force to free the land from Russian occupation,” Vereshchuk was quoted by Poland’s PAP state news agency as saying.
