Mateusz Morawiecki took to social media on Sunday night to offer his congratulations to Giorgia Meloni, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

“Great victory! Congratulations!,” the Polish PM said in a Facebook post.

Morawiecki also posted a congratulatory message on Twitter.

Brothers of Italy win Italian elections

Giorgia Meloni leads the Brothers of Italy [Fratelli d’Italia] party, which won the elections with 26 percent of the vote, according to provisional results.

Her right-wing alliance also includes Matteo Salvini’s rightist League and former PM Silvio Berlusconi’s centre-right Forza Italia.

Having garnered a combined 44 percent of the vote, Meloni’s coalition will control both the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies.

'Italians have sent a clear message'

"Italians have sent a clear message in favour of a right-wing government led by Brothers of Italy," Meloni told reporters in Rome, as she held up a sign saying "Thank you Italy," British broadcaster the BBC reported.

The decision on who leads Italy’s new government rests with President Sergio Mattarella.

Meloni vowed her party would “govern for everyone,” as reported by telegraph.co.uk.

‘Good cooperation between PM Morawiecki and Meloni’

Brothers of Italy belong to the same European Parliament group as Poland’s governing party Law and Justice (PiS), namely the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR), the PAP news agency reported.

Law and Justice MEP Adam Bielan told PAP on Monday that “a continuation of good cooperation between PM Mateusz Morawiecki and Brothers of Italy leader Giorgia Meloni could change the balance of power in Brussels.”
