According to the Polish foreign ministry, the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) meeting will also focus on "the situation in the Western Balkan states" and "the developments in the Great African Lakes region."

As part of the meeting, EU foreign ministers are expected to hold a discussion with Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya.

Poland's Rau on Sunday hosted a dinner attended by the Secretary-General of the European Commission, Ilze Juhansone, and the foreign ministers of Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Sweden, according to an announcement.

The talks focused primarily on supporting Ukraine in its efforts to become a member of the EU, the Polish foreign ministry said.

Rau last week held talks on Ukraine with French officials during a visit to Paris.
