The foreign ministry in Warsaw issued the statement on the X social media platform on Friday afternoon.

It said the year was ending with a "large-scale Russian attack which has killed and harmed dozens of people in Ukraine, including Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa and Zaporizhzhia."

Poland's foreign ministry stated: "We offer our solidarity and support to the victims and their families, and call on the Kremlin to stop their criminal actions in Ukraine."

Russia on Friday morning fired 158 missiles against Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, Odesa and Lviv, killing at least twelve people and injuring 76, and also struck a critical infrastructure facility in the Lviv region which borders Poland, according to news outlets.

The defence ministry in Kyiv said it was Russia's "most massive air attack" since it invaded Ukraine in February 2022.

Friday is day 674 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
