The agreement, over a year in the making, aims to deepen political and economic relations between the two nations.
„Poland today enjoys its strongest standing in history. The Polish-French treaty marks just the beginning, with discussions set to continue with the United Kingdom,” confirmed the head of the Polish government, Donald Tusk during a press conference on Friday, May 9, just before his departure to France.
"The Polish-French treaty opens up many new opportunities. It also sets out enhanced cooperation in areas such as agriculture and the joint presence of Poland and France in space. We have committed to making these ambitious goals a reality," added Prime Minister Tusk.
PM Tusk expressed satisfaction with Poland's new status as an equal partner to France, highlighting the upcoming Polish-French Treaty of Friendship and Enhanced Cooperation.
The treaty, set to be signed in Nancy, aims to strengthen EU security and defense, including mutual support in case of an attack on either country. Tusk emphasized the collaboration between Poland and France in defense technologies and affirmed their long-term, friendly relations.
The Elysee Palace describes the upcoming treaty between Poland and France as a historic event, marking deepening relations between the two nations. While the content of the document has not been revealed, it is speculated that it may include provisions on security guarantees, nuclear deterrence, and cooperation in the energy sector.
