Polish, Dutch PMs meet in Warsaw

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk met with his visiting Dutch counterpart Dick Schoof in Warsaw on Monday, as their defence ministers were set to sign an agreement to expand military cooperation between the two countries.

The Polish Prime Minister’s Office said the talks between the Polish and Dutch leaders would focus on bilateral cooperation, European security and key challenges facing the European Union.

After their meeting, the two prime ministers were expected to deliver statements to the media.

Poland and the Netherlands have cooperated on defence since the 1990s, when their governments first signed a military agreement that now requires updating to reflect today’s security environment, according to officials.

The renewed memorandum will reaffirm NATO’s central role in maintaining peace and aims to strengthen political and military ties between the two countries.
