“These gatherings had nothing to do with concern for security,” Szłapka wrote on Sunday in a statement posted to his profile on X (formerly Twitter), referring to the anti-immigrant marches organized by far-right groups in nearly 80 Polish cities last weekend.
“That was a cynical political game, rooted in incitement and the stirring up of hatred,” he asserted.
In his view, “The right to demonstrate one’s views does not grant permission to break the law.”

Szłapka also confirmed that law enforcement agencies will thoroughly review footage from the events. “Every violation will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office,” he said.
Reaffirming the government’s stance on border security, Szłapka added: “I stress once again: our borders are secure, and visa procedures are orderly and fully under control.”
