Russia’s defense ministry said the Baltic Fleet is conducting drills in the Baltic Sea that include countering naval drones and “underwater saboteurs,” with about 1,000 personnel and up to 100 pieces of equipment participating.

The ministry announced the planned exercises on Friday, saying the navy commander reviewed specialist training for fleet support functions within the Baltic Fleet.

Training points were set up across the fleet’s area of responsibility to rehearse organizing all types of support in combat-like conditions.

The drills assessed actions by on-duty Baltic Fleet forces and anti-sabotage units assigned to protect submarines. Scenarios included defeating hostile sea drones with FPV drones and repelling “underwater saboteurs.”

Troops also practiced defending an airfield against drone attacks using electronic-warfare systems.

According to the statement, Admiral Aleksandr Moiseyev, commander-in-chief of the Russian navy, oversaw work by logistics personnel and naval aviation units on the rapid restoration of an airfield after a mock enemy strike.

Rear units deployed temporary supply points, including field fuel and lubricant depots, clothing and food stores, as well as field kitchens and bakery workshops.
