Earlier reports by the industry magazine Press about the change in the Polish foreign ministry’s spokesperson have now been confirmed.
As of 1 October, Maciej Wewiór assumed the role. He previously served as deputy director of the Government Information Centre, as well as press spokesperson for the Warsaw Stock Exchange and the Ministry of State Treasury.
Paweł Wroński, who has worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since the formation of the Civic Coalition (KO) government under Prime Minister Donald Tusk in December 2023, is a trained historian and spent more than 30 years as a journalist for Gazeta Wyborcza and TOK FM. He also worked as a war correspondent and parliamentary correspondent, among other roles.
According to Wirtualnemedia.pl, citing unofficial sources, Wroński is applying for the position of ambassador to Bulgaria. If he does not receive a nomination from President Karol Nawrocki, who is supported by the right-wing PiS party, he would serve as chargé d’affaires in Sofia.
