Russia’s top general, Valery Gerasimov, told Putin that the missile travelled about 14,000 kilometers and remained airborne for around 15 hours during the October 21 test, the Reuters news agency reported.
The 9M730 Burevestnik, known to NATO as the SSC-X-9 Skyfall, is designed to have an almost unlimited range and an unpredictable flight path, making it “invincible” to current and future missile defences, according to Russian officials.
“It is a unique weapon that nobody else in the world has,” Putin said in remarks released by the Kremlin.
He made the statement while dressed in camouflage fatigues at a command post meeting with generals overseeing the war in Ukraine, Reuters reported.
