The man, wanted under an Interpol Red Notice, is suspected of involvement in multiple murders, kidnappings, and armed attacks in Istanbul.
According to Polish police, he was tracked down by officers from Warsaw’s Criminal Investigation Department in cooperation with the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA) and Turkish authorities.
The arrest took place outside a restaurant on Żurawia Street in the city centre after weeks of coordinated surveillance.
Given the suspect’s record and the risk that he might be armed, counterterrorism officers were deployed during the operation.
When detained, he was found carrying a loaded firearm with a round in the chamber and 26 rounds of ammunition.
