In a post on social media, Trump said he agreed to a request from Pakistan, which has been mediating the talks, "to hold our attack on the country of Iran until such time as their leaders and representatives can come up with a unified proposal."

He said the ceasefire, which began two weeks ago, would remain in place until Iran submits its proposal and discussions are concluded.

Trump, who along with Israel launched the war against Iran on February 28, said the United States would continue its naval blockade of Iranian ports and coastline.
