The findings come from the latest Democracy Perception Index (DPI), released Friday by Nira Data on behalf of the Alliance of Democracies Foundation, established by former Danish Prime Minister and former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen.

The survey was conducted among 94,000 respondents in 98 countries, including Poland.

According to the report, the United States now ranks fifth among the countries viewed most negatively worldwide. America’s net perception score fell for the second consecutive year, dropping from +22 in spring 2024 to -16 in spring 2026.

Israel received the world’s lowest overall perception score at -24, followed by North Korea, Afghanistan, and Iran.

For the first time, the United States was viewed less favorably than Russia, which recorded a net perception score of -11. Poland, by contrast, stood out positively with a score of +19, placing it close to Germany at +21.

Europe emerged as the region where the United States is viewed most negatively, with a regional score of -35. Israel showed the strongest support for the U.S., with a score of +60.

When asked which country poses the greatest threat to the world, respondents most frequently named the United States, with Russia coming second.
