"We hit them very hard again tonight, and we did that in honor of the, probably three, it's probably three great patriots", Trump told reporters on Monday.
U.S. Central Command said the latest strikes targeted Iranian military command centers, air defense and coastal surveillance sites, maritime capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and communications networks.
Trump said Iran had "lost practically everything militarily", with only limited missile, drone and production capabilities remaining. "We control the strait. They control nothing. So we'll see what happens", he said.
Asked about the U.S. military fatalities, Trump said "we feel very badly," adding that those killed were fighting so that "Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon".
CENTCOM said Saturday that two U.S. soldiers were killed and one was missing following an Iranian ballistic missile and drone attack on an air base in Jordan on Friday. Unidentified human remains were found at the site on Sunday and are being identified, the military said. CENTCOM also reported Sunday that one soldier was killed and another wounded in northern Iraq while conducting a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian kamikaze drone.
Trump said the current strikes aim to eliminate any possibility of Iran obtaining a nuclear warhead. "After a week and a half, not four weeks […] we've probably stopped them. But I don't want to use the word 'probably'", he said.
