Netanyahu dismissed the draft plan announced by U.S. President Donald Trump, declaring that Israeli forces will not pull back from the Gaza Strip until Hamas fully disarms. Israel currently maintains control over roughly 65% of the territory.
"It is not our draft. We have submitted our comments. That is our position. We firmly defend our interests", Netanyahu said in a video posted to Facebook, asserting that disarmament must precede any military withdrawal.
The political impasse comes as violence continues to erode the truce established in October 2025. Gaza health officials report that at least 1,252 Palestinians and five Israeli soldiers have died since the ceasefire began.
According to Doctors Without Borders (MSF), a Palestinian is killed or injured every 80 minutes on average, with 1,185 killed and 3,816 wounded in Israeli military actions through July.
MSF warned that an agreed "yellow line" buffer zone has been weaponized to restrict movement and further divide the enclave, shrinking the area available to nearly 2 million residents to about 30% of Gaza.
"The yellow line moves. It is neither clearly marked nor fixed — it shifts to the west whenever Israeli forces deem it appropriate", said Ozan Agbas, MSF emergency coordinator in Palestine.
Approximately 90% of Gaza's population remains displaced, living in severely overcrowded makeshift shelters plagued by widespread disease, skin infections, and rat infestations.
The enclave’s healthcare system faces catastrophic shortages due to ongoing Israeli border blockades. Gaza's health ministry reported that 50% of basic medicines—including cancer treatments and supplies for pregnant women and dialysis patients—are exhausted. Diagnostic testing capabilities have dropped by 85%, and overall medical supply deficits have reached 58%.
The World Health Organization condemned a recent Israeli strike on Al-Aqsa Hospital that destroyed its primary storage facility. Meanwhile, a prefabricated field hospital fully equipped with diagnostic tools and oxygen supplies has been stalled in Jordan for months awaiting entry permission.
The humanitarian crisis due to the Israeli siege and subsequent blockade extends to severe food insecurity, affecting two out of three residents. Health agencies report that over 74,000 children require urgent treatment for acute malnutrition, alongside nearly 24,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women needing immediate nutritional aid.
