Moscow warns of strikes on UK military sites in Ukraine amid missile row

27.08.2026 17:00
Russia said Thursday it could strike British military targets in Ukraine and beyond, retaliation it says is tied to London's decision to share long-range missile technology with Kyiv.

The warning came from Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, who told reporters in Moscow that Britain and France "are playing with fire" by supplying Ukraine with sensitive rocket technology.

At the heart of Moscow's anger is Britain's pledge to hand Ukraine the know-how to produce Storm Shadow cruise missiles, a decision announced earlier this week by British Prime Minister Andy Burnham during a "coalition of the willing" summit in Kyiv.

The air-launched Storm Shadow missiles can hit targets hundreds of kilometers away, and Ukrainian forces have already used them against Russian territory. France produces a similar version, known as SCALP, and had previously agreed to let Kyiv license that technology as well.
