Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius told the BBC in an interview that Lithuania has prepared evacuation plans for various scenarios involving a threat from Russia.
If attacked directly, Lithuania would fight rather than surrender, he said.
Kosiniak-Kamysz referred to Poland's experience receiving around 3 million Ukrainians in the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, saying potential locations for receiving evacuated civilians have already been designated.
"Helping civilians is not only a legal obligation, but also a matter of simple decency and our humanity," Kosiniak-Kamysz said.
He also said that if countries such as Lithuania, Latvia or Estonia were attacked, Poland would seek to invoke NATO's Article 5, under which an armed attack against one member is considered an attack against all.
Article 5 has been invoked only once, following the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks against the United States.
Under Article 5, each NATO member is obliged to assist an ally that comes under armed attack by taking whatever action it considers necessary to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area.
Such assistance may include the use of armed force, but does not necessarily involve military action.
