Braun, a Polish MEP who leads the Confederation of the Polish Crown party, set out his position in a video posted on social media.
He said his party did not just want to stop boycotting projects such as Nord Stream 1 and 2, but to "take part" in what he called a "wonderful" inititative.
Poland's Energy Minister Miłosz Motyka responded on X, noting that in 2021 Braun had called Nord Stream a "new Molotov-Ribbentrop pact," but now describes it as good.
Motyka said no project ran more counter to Poland’s energy and national interests than Nord Stream.
He added that backing it was disqualifying for Braun and his party and put them among those who favour living "under Putin’s boot."
Nobody could call themselves a patriot while supporting projects that threaten Poland’s vital interests, he added.
"Shame!"
Braun spoke in Lubmin, in the German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, at a convention of the Alternative for Germany (AfD), alongside party representatives.
The AfD, which is described as nationalist, populist and anti-establishment, won an election in the state in September with more than 38 percent of the vote.
Its programme calls for "normalising" relations with Russia, including lifting sanctions and rebuilding and restarting Nord Stream.
Explosions near the Danish island of Bornholm in autumn 2022 hit three of the four lines of the Nord Stream pipelines, which were designed to carry natural gas from Russia to Germany.
