The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday that the US administration encouraged Orban to enter the race and presented him with an initial proposal to make him a joint candidate of the United States, Russia and China.
Niemczycki said Poland had not received the information through official channels and that he could not comment on media reports.
“He is not a person who represents European values,” Niemczycki said.
He added that Orban was not among the figures who enjoyed “excessive popularity.”
A US diplomat cited by the Wall Street Journal said Russia and China supported the idea. The newspaper also quoted officials as saying that when the three powers want the same outcome in the UN Security Council, they usually get it.
