Polish president sends condolences after deadly blast in Lebanon

Polish President Andrzej Duda has sent condolences after a powerful warehouse explosion killed dozens and injured thousands of others in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, on Tuesday.

“A tragedy in Lebanon. Massive destruction in Beirut after an explosion of flammable substances. Dozens of dead, thousands of injured. Armageddon,” the Polish head of state said in a message on Twitter.

“I share the pain of the families of the victims,” he added.

A devastating explosion at port warehouses storing highly explosive material rocked Beirut on Tuesday, killing at least 100 and injuring nearly 4,000 in a toll that officials expected to rise, the Reuters news agency reported.

There are no reports of Poles hurt in the blast, the Polish foreign ministry has said.
