The image of the Queen was displayed on the presidential palace in Warsaw on Monday evening, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

President Andrzej Duda’s Office posted a picture of the tribute on Twitter, showing a black-and-white, side-face photo of Elizabeth II, including her date of birth and death, beamed onto the facade of the presidential building.

Earlier in the day, President Duda and First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda attended the historic funeral of Elizabeth II in London.

Poland’s head of state was among hundreds of national leaders, dignitaries and many foreign royal families paying their last respects to the Queen as the curtain fell on the Elizabethan era.

Huge crowds lined the streets of London for the funeral procession and the event was also predicted to be the most-viewed broadcast of all time, with billions tuning in around the globe, according to news outlets.

Duda said on Sunday that Elizabeth II’s passing, on September 8 at the age of 96, was indeed “the end of an era, not just in the history of Britain, but also in the history of Europe and the world,” the PAP news agency reported.
