Nawrocki, who is backed by the opposition right-wing populist Law and Justice (PiS) party, was unlikely to have achieved any meaningful results, Sikorski suggested in an interview with Polsat News.
He called Nawrocki’s meeting with US President Donald Trump a “rather risky, campaign-style move.”
Sikorski suggested that the visit seemed aimed at securing an “allied endorsement,” but underlined that “it is the Polish people who should choose our president.”
Poland's top diplomat also cautioned that “nationalism tends to provoke reactions - and American nationalism is no exception.”
