Poland’s foreign ministry has unveiled details on how citizens living abroad can vote in this year’s presidential election, announcing a record 511 polling stations worldwide.

The number of voting locations has been expanded in countries with large Polish communities, it added.

The UK will host 108 polling stations, while Norway will have 17 and Sweden 10, it said.

Voting will also be possible in popular tourist destinations.

Poland's top diplomat Radosław Sikorski, speaking at a press conference in Warsaw, said that the easiest way for Poles abroad to register is through the eWybory website.

Alternatively, voters may submit a signed application to a consul—either in person, by post or via email.

A certificate of voting eligibility can be obtained from any local municipal office in Poland or from a diplomatic mission abroad, no later than May 15. This document allows Polish citizens to cast their vote anywhere in the world.

Sikorski also reminded the public that postal voting is not available for this election.

Registration through the eWybory online system is open until Tuesday, May 13.

"I urge everyone once again not to leave this until the last minute," Sikorski said, citing recent disruptions such as a large-scale power outage in Spain as a reminder of the importance of early registration.

EU FMs to hold informal talks in Warsaw

Sikorski also used social media on Wednesday to highlight the start of an informal Gymnich meeting of EU foreign ministers, seen as one of the key events of Poland's EU Council presidency.

Held twice a year by the rotating EU presidency, the Gymnich meeting allows ministers to discuss major foreign policy issues in a more relaxed, off-the-record setting. No formal decisions are made, but the talks often shape future EU action.

This week's meeting in the Polish capital is expected to focus on continued support for Ukraine, EU enlargement and relations with global powers.
