During a press conference in Warsaw, Mościcka-Dendys said the operation will involve around 200 Polish nationals, mainly tourists and short-term visitors stranded in Israel.
The evacuation will be carried out by bus convoy to Jordan’s capital, Amman, followed by a government-chartered flight back to Poland.
“This will be a civilian operation, not a military one,” she noted, adding that Poland is the first country to launch such an evacuation.
She emphasized that this decision concerns only Israeli territory and not other countries in the region. Evacuation from Iran, for example, is not currently planned, as Polish nationals there are leaving independently with consular support.
“This is a last-resort measure, and we trust Israel’s security systems,” Mościcka-Dendys said, adding that Poland has been encouraging its citizens to leave Israel for several weeks.
Poland aligns evacuation stance with allies amid Israel crisis
Polish Foreign Ministry spokesperson Paweł Wroński clarified on Sunday via social media that the ministry is not conducting a “commercial evacuation” from Israel.
“Our actions are coordinated with those of our EU and NATO allies, who are currently not carrying out evacuation operations,” Wroński wrote.
He also noted that Israel’s land borders remain open and that any further decisions will be made based on how the situation develops.
